What condition are our gold sovereigns?

The grade describes appearance only. The gold content of a sovereign is fixed whatever the grade, so a worn coin holds the same metal as a bright one.

Excellent Grade A

Bright, with little or no handling wear.

Good Grade B

Light handling marks, with the detail still sharp.

Fair Grade C

Clear wear from circulation, with the full gold content intact.
