Terms and conditions
Last updated: 10 June 2026
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the website mintro.co.uk and the services we provide, whether online, by post, or in our stores. The website and services are operated by Mintro B Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 12461362, with its registered office at Regency Court, 62-66 Deansgate, Manchester, M3 2EN, trading as Mintro (“Mintro”, “we”, “us” or “our”). You can contact us at stockport@mintro.co.uk.
By using our website or any of our services you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree to them, please do not use our website or services. These terms do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
1. Our services
We provide the following services. Each is described in more detail in the sections below.
-
Buy: you can buy quality checked, pre-owned items from us, online and in store.
-
Sell: you can sell eligible items to us for an instant agreed price.
-
Buyback (28 day): you can sell an item to us and keep the option to buy it back, or renew that option, within 28 days, for a fixed price plus a storage fee.
-
Postal Buyback: you can use our 28 day buyback service by post, without visiting a store.
-
Reserve and Pay: you can reserve an item with a deposit and pay the balance in instalments over an agreed period.
2. Eligibility
To use our services you must be at least 18 years of age, resident in the United Kingdom, and legally able to enter into a binding contract. For any sale or buyback transaction you must provide valid identification and proof of address as set out in section 11. We may refuse any transaction at our discretion.
3. Buying goods from us
Almost all goods we sell are pre-owned. We describe the condition of each item as accurately as we reasonably can, and we grade items honestly. Photographs are illustrative, and minor cosmetic marks consistent with the stated grade are to be expected. If you need more detail about a specific item before buying, please contact us.
All prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable. We take care to price items correctly, but if we discover that an item has been priced incorrectly we will contact you before dispatch and give you the option to continue at the correct price or cancel and receive a full refund.
Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed only when we send you an email confirming that the item has been dispatched. If the item is no longer available, for example because it has sold in store, we will tell you and refund any payment in full.
Payment can be made by debit card, credit card, or any other method shown at checkout. We will not dispatch goods until payment has cleared in full.
4. Delivery
We deliver to addresses in mainland United Kingdom. Estimated delivery times are given in good faith but are not guaranteed. Risk in the goods passes to you when they are delivered to the address you provide. Ownership passes to you once we have received payment in full and delivered the goods.
5. Your right to cancel an online purchase
If you buy goods from us online or by other distance means, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of receiving them, without giving a reason, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
To cancel, contact us at stockport@mintro.co.uk with a clear statement of your decision before the 14 day period ends. You must then return the goods to us without undue delay, and in any event within 14 days of telling us you wish to cancel. You are responsible for the cost of return unless the goods are faulty or were sent in error. We recommend you use an insured, tracked service, as you remain responsible for the goods until they reach us.
We will refund all payments received from you, including standard outbound delivery, within 14 days of receiving the goods back or your proof of return, whichever is sooner. We may reduce your refund to reflect any loss in value caused by handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature and function of the goods.
The right to cancel does not apply to sealed audio, video, or software products once they have been unsealed. This does not affect your rights if goods are faulty or not as described.
6. Faulty goods and your statutory rights
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the goods we sell must be as described, fit for purpose, and of satisfactory quality, taking into account that they are pre-owned and the grade and price at which they were sold. If an item you buy from us is faulty or not as described, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund. Please contact us as soon as you become aware of the problem. Any guarantee or warranty we offer is in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights.
7. Selling goods to us
When you sell an item to us, you confirm and warrant that you are the legal owner of the item, that you are entitled to sell it, and that it is free from any finance, rental, or other agreement that gives anyone else a claim to it. You confirm that the item has not been reported lost or stolen.
We will assess the item and make you an offer. If you accept, ownership of the item passes to us once we pay you the agreed price. We may withdraw or revise an offer if the item is not as described, or if we cannot complete our identification and verification checks.
Please note: when you sell an item to us, you are not the consumer in the transaction, we are the buyer. The 14 day cancellation right described in section 5 does not apply to items you sell to us, because consumer cancellation rights protect consumers buying from a business, not businesses buying from consumers. A standard outright sale to us is final once completed. If you want to keep the option to get your item back, choose our Buyback service instead, described in section 8.
8. Buyback (28 day)
What buyback is. Buyback is a sale of your item to us together with an option for you to buy the same item back from us within 28 days. When you choose buyback, you sell the item to us and receive the agreed price straight away. We hold the item securely for 28 days, during which you may buy it back for the fixed buyback price, or renew the option for a further 28 days by paying a storage fee.
Buyback is not a credit agreement and does not involve borrowing. No fee is charged for the use of money. The storage fee covers the secure holding of your item. Buyback is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. The price you pay to buy your item back is fixed and is shown clearly on your agreement before you commit.
The 28 day option. Your buyback agreement shows the date by which you must act. Up to and including that date you may either buy the item back for the buyback price shown, or renew the agreement for a further 28 days by paying the storage fee for that period.
If the option expires. If you do not buy the item back or renew by the expiry date, the item becomes ours to keep or sell, and you will have no further claim to it. If, at our absolute discretion, we make the item available to you after the expiry date, a daily fee equal to one twenty eighth of the renewal fee may apply for each day after expiry.
Eligibility and checks. The same ownership warranties and identification checks that apply to selling an item to us, set out in sections 7 and 11, apply to buyback.
9. Postal Buyback
Postal Buyback lets you use our 28 day buyback service without visiting a store. It works as follows.
-
You request a postal buyback online and tell us about your item. We give you an indicative offer based on the information you provide.
-
If you wish to proceed, we send you a prepaid, insured Royal Mail Special Delivery envelope at no postage cost to you. You place your item inside, complete the enclosed form, seal it, and hand it in at any Post Office. The envelope insures your item in transit to us up to the limit stated on the envelope and on our website. If your item is worth more than that limit, please contact us before posting so we can arrange suitable additional cover. We cannot accept responsibility for any value above the insured limit, so please do not post a high value item without arranging this with us first.
-
When the item arrives, we assess it. If it matches the description you gave, we confirm the offer and pay you the agreed price by bank transfer, normally within the timescale shown on our website. If you decline our offer, we will return your item to you by an insured, tracked service. Return postage is at your cost, and we will tell you the amount and arrange return once you have paid it.
-
If your item is found not to be as described, for example an item described as gold which is not gold or is not of the stated standard, we will contact you. You may ask us to proceed on revised terms, or ask us to return the item. Where an item is not as described and you ask for it back, return is at your cost and a fixed return and handling fee of £[insert amount] also applies. We will tell you the total payable, and we will return the item by an insured, tracked service once that payment has been received.
-
If we ask you to pay a return cost or fee and you do not pay it within 30 days, we may treat the item as unclaimed. We will make reasonable attempts to contact you using the details you gave us. If the item remains unclaimed 90 days after we first request the return payment, it becomes ours to keep or dispose of, and you will have no further claim to it. This does not affect any item we have already agreed to buy and paid for.
-
Once paid, your 28 day buyback option begins, on the same terms as section 8. To buy the item back, you pay the buyback price together with the cost of return postage, and we send the item back to you by an insured service. To renew, you pay the storage fee for a further 28 days.
-
If you do not buy the item back or renew by the expiry date, the item becomes ours to keep or sell, as set out in section 8.
We will hold your item securely throughout the buyback period. We insure items in our possession against loss or damage while in our care, up to the agreed buyback value.
10. Reserve and Pay
Reserve and Pay lets you reserve an item with a deposit and pay the balance in instalments over an agreed period, up to a maximum of 12 weeks. The item is held for you and is not sold to anyone else while your plan is active. Ownership passes to you only when you have paid the full price.
If you complete your payments within the agreed period, the item is yours. If you decide not to continue, or you do not complete payment within the agreed period, you may cancel and we will refund the amounts you have paid, less a reasonable administration fee to cover the cost of holding the item, as shown on your plan. We will tell you the amount of any such fee before you enter into the plan. Reserve and Pay does not involve any borrowing and is not a credit agreement.
11. Identification, age, and crime prevention
We have a legal responsibility to take reasonable steps to avoid handling lost or stolen goods and to prevent fraud and money laundering. For this reason, when you sell an item to us, use buyback, or use postal buyback, we will ask you to provide valid photographic identification and proof of address, and we will record these details. Acceptable identification includes a passport or driving licence, together with a recent document confirming your address. You must be at least 18 years of age.
We may check items against serial numbers and recognised property and loss registers, and we record item identifiers such as serial numbers and IMEI numbers where applicable. Our stores may be covered by CCTV. We cooperate with the police and other authorities and may share information with them where we are required or permitted to do so for the prevention and detection of crime. By using these services you consent to these checks.
12. Electrical safety
Where appropriate, electrical items are tested for basic electrical safety using approved testing equipment before they are offered for sale. You should still follow all manufacturer safety instructions when using any item bought from us.
13. Authentication of watches and handbags
We take authenticity seriously. Watches may be authenticated by Cheshire Watch Company, and designer handbags may be authenticated using Entrupy technology. While we take all reasonable care, authentication is an expert opinion and not an absolute guarantee. If an item we sell as genuine is later shown to our reasonable satisfaction to be counterfeit, we will refund you in full on return of the item.
14. Precious metals and hallmarking
We buy and sell items containing gold and other precious metals. Prices for items bought and sold by weight reflect the precious metal content and prevailing market prices at the time of the transaction, and may therefore change from day to day. We comply with our obligations under the Hallmarking Act 1973 and display the dealer's notice as required.
15. Intellectual property
The Mintro name, logo, brand, and all content on mintro.co.uk, including text, images, and design, are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may view and use the website for your own personal, non commercial use. You must not copy, reproduce, or reuse any part of the website or our content without our written permission, and you must not use automated means to extract data from the website.
16. Acceptable use of the website
You agree not to misuse the website, not to provide false or misleading information, and not to do anything that could damage, disable, or impair the website or interfere with anyone else's use of it. We may suspend or withdraw access to the website, or refuse to provide services, where we reasonably believe you have breached these terms, where we cannot verify information you provide, or where we believe your actions may cause loss or harm or may be unlawful.
17. Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
Subject to that, we are not liable for any loss of profit, loss of business, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of our website or services. Where we are liable, our total liability in connection with any transaction will not exceed the price paid, or the agreed value of the item, in that transaction. We are not responsible for items lost or damaged in the post before they reach us, which is why we recommend insured, tracked postage.
18. Events outside our control
We are not responsible for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where this is caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, power or network failure, or actions of third parties. If such an event occurs, we will let you know and take reasonable steps to limit any delay.
19. Your privacy
We take the protection of your personal information seriously. Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. By using our website and services you acknowledge that we will process your personal information as described in our Privacy Policy.
20. Complaints
If something is not right, please tell us. Contact us at stockport@mintro.co.uk or write to us at 107 Princes Street, Stockport, SK1 1RW, and we will do our best to put things right quickly. Please give us your details and a clear description of the issue so we can help.
21. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in our services or in the law. The version published on mintro.co.uk at the time you place an order or enter into a transaction is the version that applies to it. Please check this page from time to time.
22. General
If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest will continue to apply. Our failure to enforce any right does not waive that right. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation, for example as part of a sale of the business, and this will not affect your rights. A person who is not a party to these terms has no right to enforce them under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
23. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
