Instant Cash Now, Buy It Back Later. The Mintro Buyback Promise

The Mintro buyback scheme gives you instant cash for your item without losing it for good. You sell your phone, laptop, console, jewellery or watch to Mintro, we hold it securely for 28 days, and you can buy it back at the price you were paid plus a small storage and postage fee. It is not a loan, there is no interest and there is no debt. You stay in control from start to finish.

Why choose Mintro buyback?

Instant cash when you need it, paid in store during the same visit.

No need to sell for good. Your item is held securely for 28 days and you decide whether to buy it back.

No obligation, no loan, no interest and no debt. If you choose not to buy it back, the item simply becomes Mintro stock and you owe nothing.

Usually far better value than selling outright and having to replace the item later. And if you are ready to sell for good, our Sell Tech and Sell Gold services give you a fair, confirmed price.

Buyback by post

Buyback works by post as well as in store, so you can use it wherever you are in the UK. Get an indicative offer online, send your item in with free insured postage paid by Mintro, and a real specialist confirms your cash offer when it arrives. Accept and you are normally paid the same day your item arrives. If you decide not to accept the offer, your item is returned free of charge by Royal Mail Tracked 48, at your own risk, or you can pay for insured return delivery.

Mintro then holds your item securely for 28 days. Buy it back whenever you are ready within the window and it is returned to you by tracked, insured delivery, for the price you were paid plus the small storage and postage fee and £5.95 return postage. Valid photo ID will need to be provided, and if 28 days is not quite enough, contact us and the window can usually be renewed for a further 28 days.

Frequently asked questions

How much cash will I get?

You receive 85% of your item's agreed value as an advance — so on an item we value at £200, you get £170 now, paid by bank transfer. Nothing is deducted from that figure. A fee applies only if you choose to buy the item back, and it is set out below.

How long do I have to buy my item back?

28 days from the day you are paid. To buy it back you repay the advance plus a fee, and the fee depends on what the item is:

Jewellery and watches — 15% of the advance over £500, or 20% at £500 and under. Phones, laptops, tablets and consoles — 35% of the advance.

So a £200 phone advanced at £170 costs £230 to buy back; £200 of gold advanced at £170 costs £204. If you need longer, you can extend for a further 28 days by paying just the fee — £60 and £34 in those two examples — and the new deadline runs from your current expiry date, so you never lose days you have already paid for.

The exact figures for your own item are always shown in your account before you pay anything, and we email you 7 days and 1 day before it expires.

Do I need ID to use buyback?

Yes. Buyback is a regulated transaction, so we need photo ID and your date of birth, and you must confirm you own the item and are over 18. You upload your ID as part of the online form — it takes a minute, and we cannot complete a buyback without it.

What condition does my item need to be in?

Any condition, as long as we can test it. Its condition sets its value, and the value sets your advance — so a well-worn item simply means a smaller figure, not a refusal. Tech must arrive unlocked and wiped: a device we cannot get into cannot be tested, so it is recorded as verification failed and you are offered a revised price or it comes back to you.

How and when do I get paid?

By bank transfer, on the same day. Once we have verified your item and you have accepted the confirmed value, you add your bank details in your account and the payment goes out — usually within minutes of the details clearing. Your 28-day buyback window starts from that payment, not from when you posted the item.

Can I use buyback by post?

Yes. Post it in with the free tracked and insured label we send you, exactly as a straight sale, and choose the buyback option on the form. Everything after that happens in your account: you can see the value, the buyback deadline, what it costs to buy back or extend, and you can download your agreement. Buying back or extending is paid online — you do not need to come in.
